Edgewood Tahoe hosts the American Century Celebrity Championship each summer, and Superintendent Scott Schunter has to make sure the course is in perfect condition for the nationally broadcast event. He also provides information about course maintenance that will help your next round. There are some of my pictures of the course below….

Are you checking the rating and slope of each course you play? Check your ego at the club house and enjoy your round more when you play from the correct tees. That’s part of the conversation and tips we get from Oliver Riding, Head Golf Professional and GM of Tierra del Sol, a Robert Trent Jones Jr. design on the tip of Aruba in the Southern Caribbean. This course is a great test of your skills in the wind and your test starts on the driving range. We also talk about resort golf vs. your local course, the terrain and how to play on a desert island, links golf and more. Here the video and some of my photos from the course…

cpt-hartman-taking-a-swing.JPG

In our journey of GOLF SMARTER listeners hitting golf shots from around the world, here’s one from the bunker…literally. Major James Hartman has been writing to us regularly since his return from duty in Iraq. In this photo, he’s receiving tips from Tom Watson at the Command Sergeant Major Lankford Memorial Driving Range in Baghdad, a practice facility that Jim was critical in initiating. The dedication of the driving range was done by Watson, Butch Harmon, Tom Lehman, (more…)

Golf Smarter at St. Andrews

standrews_paul.jpg

OK Golf Smarter listeners, here’s a challenge put out by long time listener Paul. Not only did he receive a Golf Smarter hat for having Kenny answer his question, but he wore it while recently playing at The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews. Thanks Paul, nice ear muffs.

If you’ve already got a Golf Smarter/Edwin Watts Golf hat of your own, then send a picture of you wearing it…but be creative! It’s going to be hard to beat Paul as for his position at a famous golf course (#17 at Pebble Beach would be nice), so maybe you can send a photo of you wearing it while at work in your work clothes. I’m still waiting for photos from the airline pilot and the doorman of the Awahnee Hotel. The challenge has been made, now it’s up to you.

To get a Golf Smarter/Edwin Watts Golf hat, just click on the “Ask Kenny” tab and send a question that Kenny can answer on the Golf Better @ Edwin Watts Golf podcast. If we use your question, you’ll get a hat. Then you too can get your photo posted in the Golf Smarter blog.
