In March, 2007, Sports Illustrated revealed the identity of one of the unsung heroes of Tiger Woods’ victory in the 2000 U.S. Open at Pebble Beach by 15 shots. Rock Ishii, Director of Product Development for Nike Golf Balls convinced Tiger to go with his design. Rock speaks in depth about golf ball design, care, and maintenance on this episode of Golf Better @ Edwin Watts Golf.

Rock also answers questions from Richard of New Hampshire, who writes, “Of today’s golf ball manufacturers who makes a ball that will respond well to an old Persimmons drivers and woods?” and Wayne of Wisconsin who writes “I use lower compression balls … and have not been able to recognize any real difference in performance between golf balls, other than the sound made at impact. Am I just not good enough to recognize the differences?”
