Whether you’ve played golf your entire life or new to the game, basic etiquette is important to know and understand.  The rules of golf are simple and pretty straightforward. The official rule book is short and other than the details of tournament play, most people can play a round with out (more…)

Upcoming interview on Golf Etiquette

Wednesday, July 1st, 2009

Frequently I’ll receive emails from listeners of the GOLF SMARTER podcast requesting shows about golf etiquette, how to tactfully get slow players to pick up their pace, or how to nicely ask someone to keep down the noise while your shooting.  On July 8, I’ll be recording a conversation with Rick Pipal, who’s online character is Duffy MacMulligan, the “Pro To Call” (protocal, get it? Cute.) His website is a great resource of golf etiquette, a necessary element to enjoy the game, but not traditionally covered by instructors. If you have any questions or issues that you’d like me to cover when speaking to Rick…er, Duffy, please write me before July 8.

Upcoming Interview – 7 Deadly Golf Sins

Monday, March 30th, 2009

Have you ever watched Matty Blake on NBCsports.com? He’s a golf fanatic, listens to Golf Smarter and is very, very funny.  I loved this piece so much that I invited Matty to come onto the show to discuss in detail his 7 Deadly Golf Sins. He’s also “The Caddie” at fedex.com.

Everyone has their own pet peeves that really tick them off when they’re on the course, especially when it comes to basic golf etiquette. C’mon, you know you do. We’re going to have a lot of fun with this and want to hear your stories. Please send them in and we’ll share them in the interview with Matty B. Recording will take place on the afternoon of April 16.

In 1996, when Tom Olsavsky started out at TaylorMade, development of any given golf club — from idea to shipping — took two and a half years. Today, 12 years later, that time is down to (more…)
