Hall of Famer Al Kaline’s childhood dream was to wear a big league uniform. He remembers putting it on for the first time
Al Kaline was so strong and talented that he joined the Detroit Tigers directly from high school as an 18-year-old “bonus baby” signee, receiving $35,000 ($313,302 in today’s dollars) to sign with the team. He never spent time in the minor leagues and played his entire career for Detroit. In this episode, Kaline shares his biggest thrill in the majors was fulfilling a life long dream of wearing a big league uniform.
