Veterinarian Shawn Messonnier talks about identifying, treating and preventing cancer in dogs.
Naturally, we all want our pets to remain healthy and cancer-free. Yet, the incidence of cancer is on the rise in dogs and the age of onset is creeping lower and lower. Shawn Messonnier is a holistic veterinarian and the author of several books, including “The Natural Vet’s Guide to Preventng and Treating Cancer in Dogs”. On this episode of the “Good Dog” podcast, Dr. Shawn describes the most commonly seen cancers in dogs and the treatments that are, in many cases, extending time and adding to the quality of the dog’s life. He talks about both conventional and complementary therapies and addresses a few prevention techniques that include NOT vaccinating dogs on a annual basis. Dr. Shawn is a regular holistic pet columnist for the Dallas Morning News and hosts “Dr. Shawn – The Natural Vet” on Sirius Satellite’s Martha Stewart Living Radio.
